Do you believe God can do the impossible?
If you’re in a deep trial, suffering from addiction, or praying for someone with addiction, it can feel like certain outcomes are out of reach. Goalposts seem to move farther. And that peace, breakthrough, or restoration you’ve been praying for? It feels impossible.
Maybe you’ve read about God doing the impossible, maybe you haven’t. But one thing is for sure: the longer you’re waiting on God to do something, if you’re not growing your faith in the right direction, the more hopeless you will become.
You’ll start telling yourself that God isn’t capable of doing anything, that He isn’t listening, or that He doesn’t care. This couldn’t be farther from the truth.
That’s why we must be able to recall important scripture that will not only lead us, but comfort us while we wait on God to do the impossible.
An example of this would be the woman who touched the hem of Jesus’ garment. We can read about it in Mark 5:21-34. Jesus is making his way through a heavy crowd that’s pressing in on him, when scripture tells us that He felt power go out of him. That’s when He starts asking questions.
33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling and fell down before him and told him the whole truth. 34 And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.”
Jesus tells her that it was through her FAITH that the impossible had become possible. She had been healed, immediately, by believing and acting on that faith.
Focus on what is unseen, not what you see
The woman with the blood disease is only one example of someone in the Bible who believed in what they didn’t see. Are you believing in what you don’t see, to come to pass?
2 Corinthians 4 tells us that we need to be focusing on what is unseen:
16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.
This scripture reminds us that the things that we see (and our sufferings) are only temporary, but the things that are unseen are forever (specifically, the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ). This is also encouraging because it reminds us not to get hung up on what we see right in front of our faces.
Everything happens in the spiritual first, before it happens in the natural. This is the definition of faith, as seen in Hebrews 11:1.
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Our faith is the BELIEF of things hoped for; of things that have not yet come to pass. That could be a healing from disease, recovering from addiction (for yourself or others), restoration of relationships, and much more. But we must have CONVICTION of things not seen…yet.

How God made the impossible, possible in the Bible
There are many instances where God made the impossible, possible in the Bible. A few highlights would be parting the red sea, making the walls of Jericho fall, and saving Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace.
But the most amazing, absolutely “impossible” thing God ever did was raising Jesus from the grave.
He literally reversed death. And it was through this that He gave us living hope that we too, will be raised with Jesus to experience eternal life with Him. That is a PROMISE we can stand on.
1 Corinthians 6:14
And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.
John 6:40
For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.
God made what was ultimately impossible, possible through His mighty power. He suffered the cross, died, and then was raised on the third day. If that’s not making the impossible possible, I don’t know what is!
How can you be sure God will do the impossible for you?
If God is able to defeat the grave, why would you doubt what He can do for you, friend?
Do you not just hope, but BELIEVE He is going to come through for you? That He is a loving God, above all else, and He wants what’s best for you? The Bible tells us that He is more than able to do great things:
Ephesians 3:20
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
Not only that, but God knows what you’re asking for. And if He is a good Father (which He is), don’t you think He will do so much MORE for you, as His child?
Matthew 7:11
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
Here’s the cool thing about God: He loves to do the impossible! So when your mind starts to doubt He can do it, stop yourself. Remember that God loves to make the impossible, possible. So if it seems impossible, you know God can go above and beyond to work all things for good, for those that love Him.
Romans 8:28
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose.
Have faith and trust that He is working for you, today!

Final thoughts
When we’re too focused on what we see in the physical, we forget what is being done in the spiritual. The Bible tells us that it is through our belief that nothing will be impossible. As Christians, we have to trust that God is working on our behalf, even when it doesn’t look like it!
If you’re struggling today with whether or not God is working to do the impossible, please remember the crucifixion. Specifically, the day after. This was the day that there was no hope, because Jesus had died on the cross the day before. However, what no one could see at the moment was that God was working. And Jesus rose on the third day.
Your Sunday is coming.
